Leon VanWinkle Obituary

Leon Van VanWinkle, 75, Kokomo, passed away at 10:40 pm on Monday August 8, 2022, at his home. He was born to the late Alfred Leon and Nellie Maxine (King) VanWinkle in Searcy, AR., on May 2, 1947.

Leon was a 1965 graduate of Fairmont High School. He received a bachelor’s in social work through Indiana Wesleyan and a master’s in therapy and social work from Indiana University. He worked as a therapist for several local hospitals and facilities and was a case worker in several states. He retired from social work in December of 2006 in New Horizons, CA. He was an amazing artist who loved to paint, draw, and carve wood. He enjoyed cooking and gardening.

Leon is survived by his children, Skye (fiancé Steve) VanWinkle and Ean (Angela) VanWinkle; grandchildren, Chloe VanWinkle and Allie VanWinkle; and several cousins, aunts and an uncle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold VanWinkle.

In keeping with Leon’s wishes there will be no services. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with cremation.
