Larry G. Moss Obituary

Larry G. Moss, 85, Kokomo, passed away at 10:45 am on Sunday September 7, 2025, at his home. He was born on May 23, 1940, in Logansport, Indiana to the late Byron W. and Garnet (Abshire) Moss. He was married on January 29, 1966, in Indianapolis at Roberts Park United Methodist Church to Barbara McMinn.

Larry graduated from Twelve Mile High School in 1958, where he played on the basketball team and at halftime he lent his musical talents to the band. He was a 1963 graduate of Purdue University, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. While at Purdue he served in ROTC and as an officer of Cary Quad. Upon graduation he was inducted as 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army.  He began his professional career with Delco Electronics, thanks to his knowledge of the “jungle radio” while in service. He retired in 2001 from Delphi Electronics, after 36 years of service. He was a 55 year member of Grace United Methodist, the John Purdue Club, and a former member of the Kokomo Country Club and Wildcat Creek Golf Course. He took great pride in his golf games, teaching his daughter the game. He was a proud and loyal supporter of Purdue athletics, even during the down years.  He enjoyed going to two Rose Bowls to cheer on his beloved Boilermakers. Larry was a charter member of the KVA, a group of friends who played volleyball on a regular basis for several years. He spent countless hours cheering on and supporting his Philadelphia Phillies.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Brad (Elizabeth) Moss of Zionsville; daughter, Laurie Rayl of Kokomo; grandchildren, Marianne Moss, Michael Moss, Jace Rayl, and Rhys Rayl; brother, Max (Cathy) Moss of Brookston.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Patricia Moss; son-in-law, James “Jimbo” Rayl; and brother-in-law, Randy McMinn.

The family would like to thank special friends and neighbors, Cherie and Tom Teghtmeyer, for their help over the past year.
