Kathleen “Kathy” Louise Leep, 75, Kokomo, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 6:45 am on Monday, September 19, 2022. She was born in Kokomo to the late Vestal R. and Marjorie C. (Kinney) Nicholas. She married Roger D. Leep on July 12, 1974, and he survives.
Kathy graduated from Kokomo High School in 1965, while there she a member of the National Honor Society and was chosen as 1 of 6 delegates to the Hoosier Girls State by the American Legion Auxiliary. She worked for AT&T Telephone Company and retired in 1995, after 20+ years of service. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, the Daughters of Isabella, the Kokomo Porcelain Artist Club and the AT&T Pioneers Club. Kathy loved spending time with her family and was a devoted grandma to her two grandsons. She loved traveling to Florida and Colorado, but truly enjoyed her time living in Germany and Salem, MA. Kathy was an avid reader, Stephen King being one of her favorites, she loved gardening and planting flowers every year. She was an animal lover, especially to her cats, Monkey, Buster, and Lizzie.
Along with her husband Roger, Kathy is survived by her two daughters, Christine Leep, and Monica (Brian) Jones; grandsons, Nick Leep and Jack Jones; siblings, Mary Melville, John (Pam) Nicholas, Jane (Rick) Kanable, Susan (Michael) Kuhn, Karen Nicholas, and Jim (Shelly) Nicholas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm on Monday, September 26, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington Street, Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Elliot Zak the celebrant. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11 am to 1 pm on Monday at the church. Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
