Katherine “Kate” Marie Thomas, 95, of Kokomo, passed away Tuesday November 29, 2022, at her home. She was born on May 25, 1927, in Loudon County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Garrett and Bertha (Hensley) Jameson. On September 7, 1944, she married James M. Thomas, and he preceded her in death on March 19, 2002.

Kate worked at Haynes International and Heltzel’s Grocery store. She prioritized time spent with her family. She enjoyed cooking and fishing.

The Thomas family would like to extend a special thank you to Juanita Thomas (granddaughter), Patty Cohee (friend), and the Ascension St. Vincent Hospice staff that gave Katherine such compassionate care in her time of need.

Kate is survived by her son, J. Ron (Susan) Thomas; grandchildren, Jack (Michelle) Thomas, Ty (Lori) Thomas, Jeff (Juanita) Thomas, Tally (Chris) Biggs; brother, Tommy Jameson; sisters, Edna Roberts, Helen Wrathall, Dorothy Hinkle; great-grandchildren, Tanner (Savannah) Thomas, Marlee Thomas, Ella Biggs, Hudson Biggs, Carter Biggs, Maggie Biggs, Cami Thomas, Caili (Derek) Brading, Cara (Preston) Emmons, Kolby Thomas, Kaci (Erin) Allen; great-great-grandchildren, Anderson, Zander, Tate, Kade, Shane.

Kate was preceded in death by her parents, Garrett and Bertha Jameson; husband, James Thomas; brothers, William H. Jameson, Roy Jameson; sisters, Lucille V. Dowers, Mildred Nesbit, Lola May Sturgaon; sons, Glen Edward Thomas, Bobbie Lee Thomas; and great-granddaughter, Kelli Allen; great great-granddaughter, Ellie Thomas.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from Noon to 2 pm Monday December 5, 2022, at Honeycreek Missionary Baptist Church, 250 Nashville Street, Russiaville, IN 46979. Funeral service will begin at 2 pm on Monday at the church, with Pastor Jim Stevenson officiating. Burial will follow in Russiaville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kate’s memory to Honeycreek Missionary Baptist Church. Stout & Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
