Judith Ann “Judy” Miller, 78, Kokomo, passed away peacefully at 12:07 pm Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Aperion Care in Kokomo. She was born on November 23, 1947, in Tucson, Arizona, the daughter of the late Lloyd Hopkins Shaver & Lucille (Dishon) Collins. Judy was raised and loved by her mother and stepfather, Adrian Collins, whom she loved dearly. She married James “Jim” Miller who preceded her in death on January 9, 2010.
Judy dedicated 17 years of her career to working in security for General Motors in Kokomo. She also was a foreman at Continental Steel and delivered newspapers for the Kokomo Tribune and found deep fulfillment during the years she spent at home caring for her household and raising her children. Her work ethic and commitment to both her professional responsibilities and her family were evident throughout her life.
A woman of many talents and interests, Judy was known for being crafty—she loved to sew and crochet with care and precision. In her younger years she collected dolls with enthusiasm. Her baking and cooking were cherished by those around her; she had a special touch in the kitchen that brought comfort to many. She also enjoyed drawing pictures of her children, a reflection of how deeply she treasured them.
Those who knew Judy will remember her fierce loyalty to family. She possessed a sharp wit and a great sense of humor that could brighten any room. Her warmth and laughter left lasting impressions on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Regina Vorhees, Mark Vorhees, Ronald "Bud" (Patty) Vorhees and Paul (Erina) Miller; her grandchildren, Justin Vorhees, Jake Conley, Kristopher (Jillianne) DeWitt, Audrey Vorhees, Daulton Conley, Braden Vorhees, Haven Vorhees, Camryn Vorhees, Eileen Miller and Stevie Vorhees; and great-grandchildren, Max Vorhees, Layne Vorhees, Rhythm Vorhees, Kallie DeWitt, Ally Cover, Presley Cover, Ian Cover, and Chloe Conley; her sister, Delores Layne; and brother-in-law, Richard Zeller, along with several nieces and nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Shaver; mother and stepfather, Lucille & Adrian Collins; husband, James “Jim” Miller; and siblings, Clyde Shaver, Howard Shaver, Lillian Zeller and Mary Henry.
A private burial will be held at a later date in Albright Cemetery. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in Judy’s memory to any wildlife rehabilitation, humane societies or no kill animal rescues.
