Jon Harold Adams, 79, of Kokomo, passed away at 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Brickyard Healthcare in Kokomo. He was born, in Kokomo, on February 9, 1943, the son of Harold and Dorothy (Stanley) Krippenstapel, Sr. and was later adopted by Ralph Adams, Sr. On April 18, 1970, he married Mary Sweet, and she survives.
Jon graduated from Kokomo High School in 1961 and went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1965. During his service, he earned a good conduct medal and the national defense service medal. He was proud to have been able to take part in the Honor Flight in 2017. Jon worked as a telephone technician for 37 years for Indiana Bell, Ameritech, SBC and AT&T. He enjoyed playing softball, hunting and fishing and loved serving as a boat captain in the Moose Carden Fishing Clinic. He was a member of the Lions Club.
In addition to his wife, Mary Adams, survivors include his children, Gary Adams, Amy Brookshire and Susan Behny; grandchildren, Courtney, Gary Jr, Matthew, Baylee, Arrick, Adam and Nathan; great-grandchildren, Cruz, Kaydence, Miles, Sylvie, Nolan, Salem, Conner, Sophia, Knox and Baylor plus one on the way; siblings, Nancy Campbell, Bev Turner, Jan Warner, Dan Adams and Annette Hicks; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Adams; fathers, Harold Krippenstapel, Sr. and Ralph Adams, Sr.; and brothers, Harold Krippenstapel, Jr. and Ralph Adams, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, with Pastor Dan Adams officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at the funeral home.
