John W. “Bill” Ramer, 89, Kokomo, passed away at 7:45 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2019, at Bloom at Kokomo. He was born November 26, 1929, in Cass County, to Edgar and Edith (Widner) Ramer. On November 12, 1949, he married Betty J. Davis, and she survives.
Bill graduated from Walton High School in 1948. He farmed all of his life and retired as a school bus driver from Southeastern Schools. He was a member of the school board, an active member of the Walton Lions Club, a member of Anoka United Methodist Church and a former member of Union Presbyterian Church where he had taught Sunday School and served as a trustee.
In addition to his wife, Betty Ramer, Bill is survived by his daughter, Sue (Jim) Allbaugh, Bringhurst; son, Dennis (Jodie) Ramer, Walton; daughter-in-law, Cathy Ramer, Burlington; grandchildren, Ryan (Melinda) Allbaugh, Jared (Janelle) Allbaugh, Justin (Haley) Ramer, Jenilee Burke, Adam (Mariah) Ramer and David Ramer; great-grandchildren, Emlyn (Cassius) Sherwin, Rhys Allbaugh, Emma Allbaugh, Anna Allbaugh, Cade Allbaugh, Jayden Ramer, Lynnsey Ramer and Sydney Ramer; and brother, Robert “Bob” (Patsy) Ramer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary Ramer; and grandsons, Eric Burke and Matthew Ramer.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at Anoka United Methodist Church, 4890 E. 300 S., Logansport, with Pastors Dan Butcher and Chris Rife officiating. Burial will follow in Ramer Cemetery near Walton. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the church.
