John Wagner Obituary

John Wagner, 73, of Russiaville, passed away at 8:50 am Monday January 10, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent in Kokomo. He was born in Great Bend, Kansas on October 4, 1948, the son of the late Ernest and Clara (Heronema) Wagner. On December 18, 1971, he married Juanita Hale and she preceded him in death on December 9, 1999. On April 26, 2002, he married Janice Birge and she survives.

John was a 1966 graduate Great Bend High School. He has been an ordained minister for over 50 years and pastored at Pittsburgh Community Church in Delphi for the last 25 years. He retired from Chrysler after serving 30 years in production. John bravely served our country in the United States Air Force. He always wanted to be remembered for his love of God. He studied his Bible every morning and played hymns on his guitar every evening. John was a very talented musician who taught himself how to play almost any instrument.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son Justin (Tina) Wagner; stepchildren, David (Tracy) Snowberger, Dana Snowberger; siblings, Julianna Miller, Donald Wagner, Eugene Wagner, Myron Wagner, Mary Jane Wagner; grandchildren, Leah Wagner, Isaiah Wagner; step-grandchildren, Erica Snowberger, Rollie Snowberger, Bryan Snowberger, Brooklyn Snowberger, Eric Green, Andrew Green; great-grandchildren, MyKenlie Keller, Eli Green, Evelyn Green.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Juanita; and step-grandchild, Cody Green.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 pm to 8 pm Wednesday January 26, 2022, at Honey Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 250 Nashville Street, Russiaville, IN 46979. Funeral service will begin at 1 pm on Thursday January 27, 2022, at the church, with Pastor Bill Fields officiating. Burial will follow in Russiaville Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John’s memory to the American Cancer Society or the Pittsburgh Community Church in Delphi.
