Obituary

John Allen Hemstreet, 71, of Kokomo, passed away 9:11 am Monday May 8, 2023, at Northwoods Village. He was born in Kokomo, IN, on October 1, 1951, the son of the late Harry and Dorothy (Kinsey) Hemstreet.

John was a 1969 graduate of Northwestern High School. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Indiana University. As a teen, he worked as a lifeguard at the Sea Shore. John worked as a substitute teacher at all county schools, worked as a security guard, and assisted his parents at the Blue Ribbon Laundromat that they owned. He was a reserved man that had a unique sense of humor. He was saved and baptized at a Methodist Church. John also served as the bookkeeper for a men’s prayer group.

He is survived by his dear friends, Larry and Cyndy Taylor; their sons, Cody (Laura) Taylor, Logan (Kyleigh) Taylor; and Cody’s child, Katalina Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Dorothy Hemstreet; and brother, James Raymond Hemstreet.

Graveside service will be held at 3 pm on Friday May 12, 2023, at Russiaville Cemetery, with Rev. Fred Grenier officiating. Stout & Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Messages of condolence may be left online at www.stoutandson.com.
