Joanne Darby-Trobaugh, 78, of Kokomo, passed away at 12:49 a.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. She was born December 18, 1943, in Mississippi, to Richard D. and Joanne (Reed) Darby. On July 19, 2003, she married Robert J. Trobaugh, at their home in Kokomo, and he preceded her in death on August 15, 2021.
Joanne graduated from University High School, in Bloomington, Indiana, in 1962 and from Indiana University in 1966. She went on to earn her master's degree in speech pathology from Indiana University and worked as a speech pathologist in Chicago Public Schools until her retirement in 2003. Joanne enjoyed gardening, wintering in Florida and was a huge I.U. fan. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Beta Sigma Phi, the F.O.P. Auxiliary, and was on the board of directors for the Designer Show Home.
Survivors include her children, Reed (Stella Gries) Stoeckley, Ruth (Bryan) Wolf, Guy (Katie) Trobaugh, and Kari (Michael) Hunter; grandchildren, , Isabella Stoeckley, Lily Stoeckley, Ashley Gries, Alison (Michael) Titus, Amy Wolf, Eric Wolf, Nathan Trobaugh, Tommy Trobaugh, Addison Trobaugh, Brayden Scering, Molly Hunter, and Lizzie Hunter; great-grandchildren, Cate Titus and Sonny Titus; siblings, Richard D. Darby, Jr. and Lucy (Jack) Darby Tracy; cousin, Paulette Feltus; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at Noon on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, with C. Davies Reed officiating.
