Jessie Lee Freeman, 87, Celina, OH., passed away at 3:42 pm on Saturday November 29, 2025, at Joint Township Memorial Hospital in OH. She was born on March 6, 1938, in Middlesboro, KY, the daughter of the late Rev. Dorcie and Alma (Leach) Lyke. On November 7, 1970, she married William R. Miller, and he preceded her in death on June 17, 1978.
Jessie graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1957; she attended Kokomo Business College and received a Management Certificate from Purdue University. She worked for First National Bank as an Auditor for 31 years before retiring in April 1993. She loved the Lord and would tell anyone that she could about him. Over her lifetime she served at Nevada Church of God, Christian Heritage Worship Center, Bethel Tabernacle, and Abounding Grace Ministries. She helped in Bus Ministry, taught Sunday school, and children’s church for years. Jessie loved singing and playing the piano, organ, and accordion. She enjoyed reading and studying her Bible and learning more about God’s word. She ministered at nursing homes, volunteered at Community Howard and the Kokomo Rescue Mission. Above all these things, except the Lord, she loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, just spending time together. She had a heart to serve wherever there was a need.
Jessie is survived by her daughter, Marie (Steve) Bratcher of Celina, OH; granddaughter’s, Torie (Dylan) Brosher of Celina, OH, and Allison (Isaiah) Brosher of Muncie, IN; great grandchildren, Cooper, Ellie, Wrigley, and Sienna Brosher; siblings, Arletta Ledford, Bea Freeman, Lou Davis, Johnny Lyke; sister-in-law, Barb Lyke, and a number of nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; siblings, Stella Lyke, Irene Hughes, Eddie Lyke, and Ernie Lyke; brothers-in-law, Rev. Ray Ledford, Rev. Ray Freeman, and Rev. Don Davis; sister-in-law, Alona Lyke; niece, Lisa Pore; and nephew, Arnie Freeman.
A funeral service celebrating Jessie’s life will take place at 1pm on Friday December 5, 2025, at Bethel Tabernacle, 661 W 400 S, Kokomo, with Pastor’s Steve Branstutter and Steve Bratcher officiating. Private burial will take place in Crown Point Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11am to 1pm on Friday at the church.
