Jerry Lee Evans Obituary

Jerry Lee Evans, 86, of Kokomo, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025, at his home. He was born on October 22, 1938, in Kokomo, the son of Mennis G. Evans and Maxine (Gano) Tedlock. On June 24, 1970, at First Brethren Church in Kokomo, Jerry married Deloris Boruff, and she survives.

Jerry graduated from Western High School in 1956. He retired from the Howard County Sheriffs Department after 21 years of service in 1993. Jerry and Deloris opened their laser engraving shop in 1980 called Jer-Anny Awards. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, calf roping in the rodeo, and most of all laser engraving. Jerry was a member of the Retired Police & Firefighter’s Association, Indiana Sherriff’s Association, Eagles, and Kokomo Ball Room Dancing Club.

Along with his wife, Deloris Evans, Jerry is survived by his children, Julie Mason, Brent (Tammy) Evans, Duane (Cathie) Jones, and Richard (Marcia) Jones; grandchildren, Cynthia (Fred) Reed, Ashley (William) Aries, Joshua (Katie) Evans, Garrett Jones, Paige (Josh) Yeggy, Tonya Jones, Casey (Shannon) Jones, Jessica (William) Miller, Dustin Spicer, and Shannon (Donnie) Bay; and many great-grandchildren.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Delilah Ann Evans; and son-in-law, Lee Mason.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main Street, Russiaville, with Pastor Jeff Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Jerry’s name to Riley Children’s Hospital. Messages of condolence may be left online at www.stoutandson.com.
