Obituary

Jeanne Ann (Stych) Dunlap, 90, went to heaven on the evening of May 2, 2023, in Conway, South Carolina, where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Fallon Goodson.

Jeanne was born on April 8, 1933, in Kokomo IN to William Henry and Ruth Marie (Vurpillate) Stych.  She graduated from Kokomo High School in 1951 and earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Ball State University in 1955.  She received her master’s degree in education from Ball State in 1964.

After college, Jeanne married W. Robert Jackson in 1955.  He died in 1970.  In 1974, she married Richard D. Dunlap.  They blended their two families and enjoyed life together for 37 years in Kokomo and in Ft. Myers, FL until he passed away in 2012.

Jeanne always had a special love for children and a gifted way of interacting with kids.  She was a teacher in Kokomo elementary schools from 1955-1961 and enjoyed substitute teaching while raising her family. After her own children were grown, she taught Sunday school for many years at Christian and Missionary Alliance churches in Kokomo and Fort Myers.

A dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, Jeanne loved being with her family.  She especially treasured time with her grandchildren and loved playing with them and building into them.  Jeanne loved God.  Her faith guided her life.  She volunteered in many ways at church over the years and had a positive impact on countless lives.  She enjoyed socializing and hosting gatherings for friends and family.  She could light up a room, and was known for her great sense of humor, and for making people feel noticed and loved.

She is survived by Rick Dunlap (Diana), Kristy Dunlap (Linda Gerow), Kerry Dunlap (Judy), Becky Dunlap, MaryAnn Jackson (James Beiswanger), and Nancy Goodson (Fallon).  Grandchildren Eric Dunlap, Scott Dunlap (Stephanie, deceased), Lori Kunath (Hank), Samantha Lane (Bradley), Jennifer Morris (Kyle), Cain Beiswanger, and Hannah Beiswanger. Great grandchildren Quinn, Austin, and Wesley Kunath, and Evan, Gavin, and Deacon Morris; several nieces and nephews including Debbie Glass (Gregg), Mike McCool (Julie), Bob McCool (Lorraine), Mike Dunlap (Paula), and Doug Dunlap (Jamie); sister in law Greta Dunlap.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dick Dunlap and sister Mary Jo McCool; her in-laws Harry McCool, Robert Dunlap, John Dunlap, Larry Dunlap; son Brett Dunlap; and grandchildren Loyd Dunlap, Justin Dunlap, and Scott’s wife Stephanie Dunlap.
