Janis Ann Buckner

Janis Ann Buckner, 79, of Russiaville, passed away at 6:42 am Friday, October 24, 2025, at Community Howard Regional Hospital. She was born August 16, 1946, in Kokomo, the daughter of the late Ira “Junior” and Delores (Johnson) Taylor.

Janis was a 1964 graduate of Western High School. She retired from Delco Electronics after 30 years of service. Janis attended Abundant Life Church. She was an avid sports fan, watching every sport but paying special attention to the Indiana Pacers and the Indianapolis Colts. Janis enjoyed her occasional gambling, watching the hummingbirds in the summer, crocheting, and knitting.

Janis is survived by her daughter, Sherri (Jay) Miller; brother, Ted (Tina) Taylor; 2 nephews, and 1 niece.

In addition to her parents, Janis was preceded in death by her son, Duane Buckner, and granddaughter, Kylie Miller.

A funeral service celebrating Janis’s life will take place at 1 pm Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Pastor Brandon Shawhan officiating. Burial will follow in Russiaville Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 am until the start of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
