Janice Kay Wiedenhoeft Obituary

Janice Kay Wiedenhoeft, 78, passed away at 5:05 am on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Ascension St. Vincent - Kokomo. She was born on March 23, 1947, in Peru, Indiana, daughter of the late Kenneth Russell and Betty Lou (Hines) Hoover. On July 11, 1970, Janice married Daniel T. Wiedenhoeft at St. Charles Catholic Church in Peru, IN and he preceded her in death on September 6, 2017.

Janice was a 1965 graduate of Peru High School. She graduated from Ball State University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science in education and received a Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana University. Janice was an elementary teacher at Kokomo Center Schools for 37 years. She taught kindergarten at Wallace Elementary and then most of her career teaching first grade at Boulevard Elementary. Janice was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, faithfully volunteering at the St. Vincent DePaul Store. She was a member of the Kokomo Art Association and was a talented artist, painting in watercolor. She loved time spent with her grandkids and enjoyed playing pickleball.

She is survived by her children, Brian Daniel (Amy) Wiedenhoeft and Brandi Danielle Bagwell; grandchildren, Bailey Rose Wiedenhoeft, Bradley Allen Brown, Thomas DeHaven Wiedenhoeft, Emma Criswell Wiedenhoeft, Andrew Hoover Wiedenhoeft, and Brooklyn Kay Bagwell; sisters, Barbara Ellen Hickman and Joette Lynn (Gary) Miller and sister-in-law, Jean Hoover.

Along with her husband, Daniel T. Wiedenhoeft, she was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Betty Hoover; brother, Keith Edward Hoover; and brother-in-law, Mark Hickman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, June 30, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington St., Kokomo with Rev. Fr. Chris Shocklee the celebrant.  Private burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery in Peru.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3 pm to 6 pm Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd, Kokomo, where the Rosary will be offered at 2:30 pm.
