Jane Ann Sparlin, 71, Kokomo, passed away at 2:32 am Friday June 12, 2026, at Community Hospital North. She was born on July 15, 1954, the daughter of the late Roscoe James “R.J.” and Betty Lou (Teter) Densborn. On June 18, 1977, she married Alan Louis Sparlin, and he survives.
Jane graduated from Kokomo High School in 1972, Ball State University in 1976, and earned a master’s degree from Indiana University. She took pride in taking care of her family and their home. She would substitute teach for Kokomo Center Schools when they needed her. She enjoyed going to rummage sales, line dancing, and walking with friends. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Kokomo and had been attending the Bennett Switch Community Church, where she attended bible studies and church activities.
Along with her husband Alan, she is survived by her daughter, Emily (Max) Boyle; grandchildren, Grace Gamblin, Riley Boyle, and Allie Boyle; sister-in-law, Rita Grawey; mother-in-law, Eula Rash; nieces, Amy Densborn, Lisa Densborn, and Danya Rood; nephew, Thomas Grawey; and dog, Sammy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Chad; and brother, Steve Densborn.
Friends are invited to visit the family from 4 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday June 16, 2026, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W Lincoln Road, Kokomo. A funeral service celebrating Jane’s life will be held at 11 am on Wednesday June 17, 2026, at the funeral home, with Pastor Norman Snyder, officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kokomo Rescue Mission. Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
