James “Jim” Morris Emenhiser, 91, Sharpsville, passed away at 2:56 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. He was born July 19, 1927, in Kokomo, to Homer and Irene (Hutto) Emenhiser. On June 13, 1965, he married Barbara Scott, in Elwood, and she survives.
Jim graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1945 and went on to serve in the United States Navy. He worked as a custodian at Delco, retiring in 1993, and was also a barber for many years in Sharpsville. Jim was a Yankees fan and an avid golfer and had six holes-in-one. He was a member of the American Legion, the Elks, the Masons and the Sharpsville United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife of nearly 54 years, Barbara Emenhiser, he is survived by his daughter, Julie (Greg) Dawkins; son, Jay (Rachel) Emenhiser; grandchildren, Shelby, Hunter, Hannah, A.J. and Annette; family member, Cameron Gilbert; brother-in-law, Carl Scott; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and Homer Emenhiser; grandparents, John and Jennie Hutto; and sister, Jennie Lee Whitehead.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at the Sharpsville United Methodist Church, 228 W. Meridian St., Sharpsville, with Pastor Mandie Gould Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in Sharpsville Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the church.
