Herman “Jack” Feldon Hyde, 68, of Winchester, passed away at 6:44 pm on Friday, January 7, 2022, at his home. He was born July 27, 1953, in Kokomo, the son of the late J.D. and Patsy (Selph) Hyde.
Jack served in the United States Army from 1971-1973; obtaining the rank of Specialist and the United States Navy from November to September in 1985. Jack enjoyed anything that included being outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle, and horseback riding. Jack also loved woodworking, and spending time with his service dog, TJ.
Jack is survived by his daughter, Shanon Sampson; son, Brandon (Sara) Sampson; sister, Madeline McAninch; brother, Jay (Mary) Hyde; mother of his children, Terry Sampson; nieces, Melissa (Ben) Miller, Lindy (Chris) Grey, and Amy Garrett; nephews, Brett (Lisa) Vawter, and Christopher (Melissa) Slavey; along with many other nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Matthew Hyde; sister, Trisha Slavey; son, Travis Hyde; and his grandparents.
A funeral service will be held at 4 pm Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Jack’s good friend, Dr. John Duncan officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Burial will take place in Russiaville Cemetery at a later date.
