Gerald Vincent “JR” Sutherlin

Gerald Vincent “JR” Sutherlin, Jr., 68, Kokomo, passed away at 8:40 pm Saturday, December 27, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born February 27, 1957, in Lafayette, Indiana, the son of the late Gerald Sr. & Pauline E. (Farner) Sutherlin.

JR was a 1977 graduate of Western High School.  He worked for Chrysler Corp prior to his accident which left him disabled.  His interests were watching the Chicago White Socks and the Indianapolis Colts.  When JR was in his 20’s, he tried out for the Cincinnati Reds.  He was an avid sports card collector and loved listening to WWKI and watching his favorite shows on TV such as Leave it to Beaver, Little House on the Prairie, Highway to Heaven, the Munsters and the Adams Family.  

JR is survived by his sons, Gerald “Jake” Sutherlin III and Jeremy (Claire) Sutherlin; grandchildren, Aralynn Sutherlin, Loralai Sutherlin, Lucas Sutherlin and Hermione Sutherlin; sisters, Teri Sams and Pam; and former spouse, Julia Mitchell.

JR was preceded in death by his parents.
