George David “Dave” Boyce, 87, Kokomo, passed away at 4:51 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born June 18, 1930, in Kokomo, to George H. and Doris V. (Johnson) Boyce. On December 11, 1955, he married Neva G. Schroeder, at the Meridian Street Christian Church in Greentown, and she survives.
Dave graduate from Kokomo High School in 1949 and served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1954, obtaining the rank of BSMN and earning the National Defense Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the China Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He went on the work for Public Service Indiana for over 34 years, retiring on January 1, 1990. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and attended Faith, Hope & Love Baptist Church. He was past president of the Rochester Lions Club and a former member of the Kokomo Kiwanis Club and the Howard County Home Builders. He also served on the Northwestern School Board for twelve years and as the Clay Township Trustee for twelve years.
In addition to his wife, Neva Boyce, he is survived by his children, Tracy Buckle, Terry (Jan) Boyce and Tim (Lesa) Boyce; sister, Phyllis (Jack) Krise; grandchildren, Kyle (fiancé Jodi) Coolbaugh, Bradley (Erin) Coolbaugh, Chad (friend Jessica) Coolbaugh, Jeremy (Colby) Boyce, Christie (Rob) Wilson, Jessica Boyce and Nicholas Boyce; seven great-grandchildren, Austin David Boyce, Jackson Boyce, Aurora Wilson, Gideon Wilson, Micah Coolbaugh, Emma Coolbaugh and Tristen Martin; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; two grandchildren, Joshua Boyce and Heather Coolbaugh; and great-granddaughter, Kaelynn Coolbaugh.
Funeral services will be held at Noon Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Bill Duncan officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Unites States Navy and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
