Gaynell Sands

Gaynell Sands, 80, of Greentown, passed away at 4:41 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2025 at her home. She was born February 15, 1945 in Maynardville, TN to Edgar C. and Stella E. (Kaiser) Sands.

Gaynell had a passion for helping others, especially in caring for children. She was an avid country music fan who enjoyed gardening and collecting dolls.

 She is survived by her sisters, Mildred Trueblood and Gladys McCabe; nieces Bitha Sands and Steph McCabe; and many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Sands and Stella Archer; sisters, Annie Nicely and Bonnie Irwin; and brothers, James sands and Robert Sands.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 East Main Street, Russiaville. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Gaynell’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
