Eva Adams Obituary

Eva Marie (Kelley) Adams of Greentown, died Tuesday, May 9, 2023.  She passed away peacefully in her home at Century Fields surrounded by her daughters.  Eva was born on May 12, 1936 in Sycamore to George and Lena (Major) Kelley.  On October 15, 1954 Eva became the bride of Richard Glenn Adams at the Sycamore Friends Church. Richard preceded her in death on August 20, 2012.  They enjoyed 58 years together.

Eva supported the Greentown Beavers as a cheerleader and graduated from Eastern High School in 1954. Following high school, Eva joined Richard in California where she settled in as a Navy wife. Eva enjoyed the company of other Navy families and created lasting friendships.

After moving back to Greentown, Eva raised five daughters.  Eva lovingly gave her time and support to the girls’ activities, taking on roles as Room Mother, Girl Scout leader, chauffeur, sleepover hostess and savvy shopping mentor.

Eva had a special place in her heart for each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She devoted countless days to attending sporting events, working concession stands and cheering from the bleachers, always encouraging the children to give their best.  Eva and Richard would often travel hundreds of miles to celebrate a special event or attend Seniors’ nights and graduations.

Eva worked for Delco, retiring after 30 year.  Eva and Richard began traveling to warmer climates, eventually living in Gulf Shores and Lakeland Florida.  Eva loved Euchre and was the Bingo coordinator at Georgetown Mobile Manor for many years.

Eva is survived by her daughters, Glenna (Steve) Gierke, Peru, Angela (Gary) Mitchell, Madison, Georgia, Paula (Jerry) Jensen, Greentown, Teresa (Tom) Kramer, Ooltewah, Tennessee, and Donna Bates, Marion; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Millie Kelley and Francie Hutton and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Eva was preceded in death by her two brothers Amos and Raymond Kelley.

The family would like to thank the staff at Century Fields for their loving care of Eva during her final months, and also the skilled medical professionals at Ascension St. Vincent’s, Kokomo.

Eva was a member of Sycamore Friends Church, 1148 N. 1100 E., Greentown, and the memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 1:00 at the church.  The family will receive visitors from 11:00 to 1:00 on Saturday at the church.  Pastor Rob Schwarze will officiate the service.
