Edward "Ed" Leon Sommers

Edward “Ed” Leon Sommers, 70, of Kokomo, passed away 2:40 pm Wednesday September 3, 2025, at his home. He was born in Kokomo, IN, on November 16, 1954, the son of Charles and Carolyn (Dearinger) Sommers.

Ed loved all things related to cars and he was good at working with his hands. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. One of his favorite hobbies was collecting coins. Ed was a life-time member of the North American Hunting Club, NRA, American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans. He was known to be a stubborn man at times. Ed adored his dog and best buddy named Ollie.

Ed is survived by his mom, Carolyn Sommers; daughter, Amanda; siblings, Penny (David) Bowers, Andy Sommers; aunt, Paula Harshbarger; uncles, Ronald Dearinger and Matt Tobias; niece and nephew, Jonathon Sommers, Amber Sommers; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Sommers; and aunt, Sandra Tobias.

A graveside service celebrating Ed’s life will begin 2:30 pm Monday October 6, 2025, at Twin Springs Cemetery, 5062 W. 80 S., Kokomo, IN 46901. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. The graveside service will be officiated by Pastor Jamie Lyon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made out to Stout & Son Funeral Home to assist with expenses. Stout & Son Funeral Home – Russiaville Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
