Earlene Sue Cox, 84, Kokomo, passed away at 6:10 am Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. She was born February 11, 1942, in Jay County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Earl Wayne & Ruby Ilene (Stoner) Fowler. On June 8, 1963, in Kokomo, she married Warren Edward Cox who preceded her in death on September 7, 1998.
Sue was a 1960 graduate of Kokomo High School. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church. She had previously worked in insurance for Dr. Pacelli and Dr. Higgins. Sue worked for Northwestern School Corporation as a cook in the cafeteria. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and was a collector of owls, baskets and Boyd Bears. She loved decorating and gathering with family and friends for the Christmas holiday which was her favorite holiday.
Sue is survived by her children, Mason (Lisa) Cox and Shannon (Jeff) Smart; grandchildren, Cameron Warren Kirsch and Riley Jo Kirsch; siblings, Rex (Roseanne) Fowler and BethAnne (Mark) Allion; brother-in-law, Bill Anderson, along with several nieces and nephews.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren; sisters, Maryellen Anderson and Diana (Dick) Culbertson
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, April 17, 2026, in Normanda Cemetery. A lunch will be provided by Grace United Methodist Church following the graveside service, 219 W. Mulberry Street, Kokomo. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Cemetery has been entrusted with arrangements.
