Dutton James "Huey" Hewetson IV Obituary

Dutton James “Huey” Hewetson IV, 68, of Kokomo, passed away peacefully at 7:31 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at his home, surrounded by family and friends who loved him deeply. He was born in Kokomo, Indiana, on July 20, 1957, to the late Dutton James Hewetson III and Betty Jean (Kreag) Hewetson. On October 3, 2003, he married Sheri (Sutter), who survives.
Huey was a 1975 graduate of Haworth High School and went on to attend Ball State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy in 1980. He retired from Functional Devices as Vice President after 25 years of dedicated service. He was an active member of the Y’s Men organization, where he held several leadership roles, including President.
Huey had a deep love for life’s simple joys. He was passionate about golf and spent much of his life at the Kokomo Country Club, where he started as a bag boy and caddie, later becoming an assistant greenskeeper and a board member. Whether fly-fishing in Canada with friends, playing Gin at KCC, or perfecting his lawn and garden, he found happiness in the moments that brought people together. He was known for his incredible cooking, his love of singing opera, and his ability to make anyone around him laugh.
Proud of his Irish heritage, Huey carried that identity with joy and spirit throughout his life. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and family man. His love for his family was unwavering, and he took great pride in being present, supportive, and deeply connected to those he cared about most.
In addition to his wife, Sheri, Huey is survived by his children, Bridget (Tanner) Hewetson–Quick, AJ Hewetson, and Katie Hewetson; sisters, Connie (Donnie) Mortz and Vicki Carter; mother-in-law, Barbara Sutter; brother-in-law, David (Hayley) Sutter; nieces and nephews, Cole Mortz, Matt and Heather Pagan, Jason Miller, Jamie Hines, Mysty, Kassy and Logan Sutter; along with many other cherished family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Dale Sutter; and his brother-in-law, Ed Carter.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 3 to 6 pm Saturday May 16, 2026, at the Kokomo Country Club, 1801 Country Club Rd., Kokomo, IN 46902.
