Dr. Blas F. Mamaril Sr., passed away at 6:59 am on Saturday September 3, 2022, at Community Howard Regional Health. The son of the late Feliciano Morales and Florencia (Flores) Mamaril, he was born in Binmaley, Pangasinan, Philippines, on February 3, 1927. On October 22, 1955, he married Norberta M. Tiongson, and she preceded him in death on August 4, 2008.
Blas graduated from Dagupan City High School and received his M.D. degree in 1954 from Manila Central University, Manila. After interning in various hospital in the Philippines, he engaged in the general practice of medicine there from 1954-1957, when he came to the United States.
Blas interned again at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, Lackawanna, N.Y. and then spent three years as a resident in surgery. The first year was at the Jewish Chronic Disease Hospital, Brooklyn, N.Y. and the other two were at the Youngstown Hospital Association, Youngstown, Ohio. Blas was on the staff of the National Orthopedic Hospital at Quezon City which is a suburb of Manila, Philippines. Blas served the city of Logansport for 35 years.
Blas is survived by his children, Edward (Kathryn) Mamaril, Blas (Anna) Mamaril Jr., Marie (Dante) Lomibao, Feliciano Mamaril and Alan Martel; grandchildren, Jessica (Chad) Monize, Hannah Walker, Scott Mamaril, Elizabeth Mamaril, Lauren (Max) Wheeler, Anchelle Lomibao, Derek (Lucy) Lomibao, Ashley (Gordon) Holman, Abby (Konner) Kinder and Justin Mamaril; sister, Julita Mamaril Aban, California; and 16 great grandchildren. He enjoyed golfing and going to casinos.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norberta Mamaril; 4 brothers and 1 sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm on Friday September 16, 2022, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 County Road S 200 W., Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Elliot Zak, celebrant. Entombment will follow in Ever Rest Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11 am to 1 pm Friday at the church.
