Douglas was a proud graduate of Kokomo High School and remained deeply connected to his hometown throughout his life. He found great pride in being a McPike and took immense satisfaction in his role within the family business. His dedication to his work reflected not only his strong sense of responsibility but also his commitment to upholding the values and legacy of his family name.
Known for his vibrant personality and infectious humor, Douglas had a gift for making people laugh. He loved entertaining others and brought joy to many through his quick wit and warm presence. Whether sharing stories or simply enjoying time with those around him, he had a way of making every moment memorable. Outside of work and family life, Douglas enjoyed simple pleasures that brought him peace and happiness. He loved fishing and could often be found at the park watching ducks glide across the water. A devoted sports fan, he especially enjoyed cheering on the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Hoosiers. NASCAR races were another favorite pastime that brought excitement into his life.
Douglas’s love for family was evident in the deep connections he maintained with those closest to him. He is survived by his children, Anna Marie McPike and Andrew Douglas McPike; grandchildren, Savannah Marie McPike, Andrew Julius McPike, and Janna Marie Monticolo; nieces and nephews, Josette McPike (Jon) Schlegel, Brian (Andrea) McPike, and Carrie (Scott) Perkins; great-nieces and nephews, Marie McPike, Marabel McPike, Max McPike, Conrad Schlegel, Caitie (Dustin) Smallwood, Jack (Sarah) Perkins, and Brooke Perkins. His lifelong friendship with childhood best friend, Steve McDorman was a testament to the enduring bonds he formed throughout his life.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, David McPike and Steven (Mariel) McPike.
In keeping with Douglas’ wishes, his family will celebrate his life in a private ceremony. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with cremation. His memory will live on through those who knew him best—through laughter shared, stories told, games watched together, and quiet moments spent by the water’s edge. May Douglas Harold McPike’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
