Dorothy Ellen (Bridges) Horner

Dorothy Ellen Horner, 96, Kokomo, passed away at 6:15 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Waterford Place Health Campus.  She was born September 6, 1922, in Howard County, to Erman Roscoe and Camma Elsie (Lindley) Bridges.  On November 25, 1949, she married Herbert A. Horner, and he preceded her in death on June 30, 2015.

Dorothy graduated from Pendleton High School and also from Western Union School and Huffer Beauty School.  She worked for Delco Electronics from 1968 to 1978 and had also worked for Western Union.

She is survived by her sons, William “Bill” Joseph (Janie) Horner, Windfall, and Dana Eugene (Elizabeth) Horner, Lafayette; daughters, Doris (Bruce) Moss, Bradenton, Florida, Myra (Jeff) Newman, Kokomo, and Beth (Myron) Moorman, Sun City, Arizona; brothers, Robert Bridges, Anderson, and Fred Bridges, Anderson; sisters, Julia Starks, Indianapolis, and Connie Sue (Glenn) Erb, Pennsburg, Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Aaron Helton; sisters, Doris Lantz and Jean Notabartolo; sister-in-law, Margaret Bridges.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Joel Flowers officiating.  Burial will follow in Mast-Hensler Cemetery.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Contributions may be made in Dorothy’s memory to the American Heart Association.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
