Donald Lee “Rod” Beaver, 78, of Kokomo, passed away at 4:39 p.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at his home. He was born January 8, 1947, in Kokomo, to John Courtland and Mary Kathryn (Gunning) Beaver.
Don graduated from Kokomo High School before beginning a career with Delco Electronics. In 1966, he joined the United States Army and served most of his time in the service stationed in Germany. He achieved the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged in 1969. Following his military service, Don returned to Delco, where he worked as a crew leader until his retirement. He enjoyed watching WWII movies and had built detailed models of many of the WWII ships. He was also a skilled lapidarist who enjoyed collecting and polishing stones with his rock grinder. He was a science fiction fan, enjoyed studying geology, and liked building computers.
Survivors include his sister, Mary Ann Kincaid; sister-in-law, Margie von Marenholtz; brother-in-law, Jack (Elaine) Watson; nieces and nephews, Brian Watson, Tara Beaver, Ryan (Heather) Beaver, Katie Childers (Todd), Becki (Jamie) Schoppe, and Denise Kincaid; and several great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Alice Beaver, Janet Beaver, Larry Beaver, John T. Beaver, Vicki Watson, and Becki Beaver; and nephew, Rob Kincaid.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Crown Point Cemetery with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Arrangements have been entrusted to Shirley & Stout Funeral Home in Kokomo.
