Donald "Don" Eugene Swope

Donald “Don” Eugene Swope II, 71 years old, of Bunker Hill, passed away 1:29 am Wednesday March 25, 2026. He was born in Kokomo, IN, on February 9, 1955, the son of the late Donald Eugene Swope I and Emily Jean (Pasley) Gilsinger.

Don was a 1973 graduate of Frankfort High School. He completed an IBEW apprenticeship in 1978. He served as an electrician at General Motors/ Delco Electronics for 26 years until his retirement. Don found joy in being outdoors hunting, fishing, or mushroom hunting. He was a talented award-winning taxidermist and formerly served as President of the Indiana Taxidermy Association. He was a member of the UAW Local #292 and IBEW #873. Don formerly owned and operated US31 Bait & Tackle Shop. His greatest accomplishment in life was teaching his kids how to hunt and fish. He will be remembered for teaching his family and friends valuable lessons and skills.

Don is survived by his children, Donald (Danielle) Eugene Swope III, Emily Jo (Kelly) Harrington; siblings, Jennifer (Mike) England, Jim Gilsinger; grandchildren, Samantha (Andrew) Utterback, Elise (Matt) Dillon, Ren Coryell; great-granddaughter, Rosaline Dillon.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Emily Jean Gilsinger; father, Donald Eugene Swope; brothers, Michael Robert Swope, Ronald Ray Swope.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday April 1, 2026, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, IN 46902. A funeral service celebrating Don’s life will begin 10:30 am Thursday April 2, 2026, at the funeral home, with Pastor Bobby Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery.
