Donald Ray Turnpaugh, 73, Kokomo, passed away at 9:28 pm Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. He was born December 19, 1945, in Kokomo, the son of the late Meredith & Wanda Mae (Kelly) Turnpaugh. On January 12, 1968, he married Elizabeth Ann Keith and she survives.
Don served with the United States Air Force from 1963-1967 earning the rank of Airman 2nd Class. He was employed with Davis Mail Service as a part time truck driver for the United States Postal Service. Don also worked for Steel Slitting in Elwood and for Decker Truck Line in Ft. Dodge, IA. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1976, and was trained in the ministry by his good friend Frank Noble. Don loved the ministry and enjoyed helping others in any way he could, along with fishing, basketball, water skiing and reading.
Along with his wife Elizabeth, Don is survived by his sons, Donald Jr. (Tina) Turnpaugh, Jason Turnpaugh, and Andrew (Emma) Turnpaugh; grandchildren, Amber, Megan, Dustin, Ashton, Andrew Jr., Haylie, and Dakota; siblings, Larry (Janice) Turnpaugh, John (Jeanne) Turnpaugh, and Margaret Stiles.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mattie Mae Hackle.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the American Legion Post 415 in Galveston for their generosity.
