Donald Holt Obituary

Donald Eugene Holt, 87, Kokomo, passed away on Thursday June 2, 2022. Don was born in Kokomo, the 9th child of Rubin and Etwol (Williams) Holt on June 17, 1934, which was Father’s Day.  On November 17, 1961, he married Janet “Sue” Wise at Kokomo Zion EUB church, she preceded him in death in September of 2021.

Don graduated from Kokomo High School in 1953 and from Lees-McRae Jr. College in North Carolina in 1955. Don proudly served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. He was a member of the Kokomo Fire Department from 1961 to 1986.  Don was also a 2-time city golf champion in 1953 and 1956. He has been a member of Kokomo First Church of the Nazarene since 1972.

Don is survived by his son, Timothy (Susan) Holt, Mishawaka, IN.; grandson, Justin Trent Holt, LaPorte, IN.; granddaughter, Kristin Claire Holt, Mishawaka, IN.; and several nieces and nephews, who were very special to him. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rubin and Etwol; father and mother-in-law, Mildred and Virgil Wise; sisters, Edna Land and Edith Oyler; brothers, Dempsey, Dillard, Robert, Bud, Charles and Ronald; sisters-in-law, Helen, Madeline and Joretta; and brother-in-law, Bob.

Don would like to thank the staff at Wellbrooke of Kokomo and the hospice staff at Paradigm for all their wonderful care.

A private graveside service will take place in Kokomo Zion Cemetery with Pastor Stan Zurcher officiating.  Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
