Don Charles Silvey

Don Charles Silvey, 90, Kokomo, passed away at 4:09 pm on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Community Howard Regional Health System.  He was born in Indianapolis on November 18, 1935, to the late Joseph Wayne and Esther (Klienman) Silvey.  On December 18, 1994, he married Carol Baire, and she survives.

Don graduated from Broad Ripple High School and attended IUPUI.  He worked as an Accountant and retired after 40 years of service. He previously drove a charter bus, delivered motor homes, and after retirement drove the Athletic bus for IUK until he was 83.  He was a member of First Friends Meeting, Indianapolis News - News Boys Band, and served on several committees as a Trustee. He was a member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, also known as the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. since 1965 serving as the President and helping recruit new members.

Along with his wife Carol Silvey, Don is survived by his three sons, Steve (Sally) Silvey, Scott (Janette) Silvey, and Shawn (Cindy) Silvey; stepchildren, Jeff Baire, Teresa (J.R.) West, Kathy Tarr, and Bethany (Scott) Palmer; 13 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Joann Silvey Batta, and Marjorie Jean Shafner; and stepson, Anthony Allan Tarr.

A funeral service celebrating Don’s life will take place at 3 pm on Saturday December 20, 2025, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Michael Carson officiating. Friends may visit the family from 1 pm to 3 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
