David Scott White, 73, of Kokomo, passed away Friday, March 6, 2026, at Community Hospital North surrounded by his devoted family. Dave was a loving father, proud grandfather, and a man known for his dedication to helping others.
Dave was born June 8,1952 in Kokomo, Indiana as the youngest child to the late Chester White and Mildred Schmidt. He was a graduate of Western High School Class of 1970 and notably played snare drum in the marching band. He proudly served in the Army Reserves from 1973-1978. Dave retired from Chrysler after 30 years where he worked tirelessly to provide the very best for his family. He continued to work on the side flipping cars and his driveway was often referred to as a “used car lot”.
Dave went on to marry the mother of his children, Nancy White, and they grew their family to include a beautiful daughter, Kylie Jean Adams, and admirable son, Wesley Scott White. Never missing a game, practice, school event, or major life moment, Dave’s kids were truly his pride and joy. The family spent a decade visiting their favorite Spring Break destination Panama City Beach, FL where Dave would continue to vacation throughout his life.
Dave had a passion for sports, music, cars, and exercise. On the weekends he could be found in his garage watching a basketball game, listening to Q95, and polishing his beloved 1965 Chevy Impala. He was less well known for his impressive dance skills but better known for the fact that he just never stopped moving (and grooving). Dave was an accomplished marathon runner and active member of the Club Kokomo Road Runners, participating in hundreds of races all over Indiana and many years facilitating the annual Haynes Apperson 5K & Fun Run with his club buddies. In later years, Dave switched to cycling and continued teaching spin classes at the Kokomo YMCA through the end of 2025. An active member of Pioneer Car Club, Dave enjoyed attending car shows with his classic cars. His love for cars culminated in hosting Caffeine and Octane cruise-in events and directing the annual Haynes Apperson Car Show.
A lifelong resident of Kokomo, Dave was an active participant in his community and believed in giving back. He had a deep commitment to helping others, especially those in need. Dave acted as a United Way Loaned Associate and spent countless hours providing community service efforts to Howard County. Each year he looked forward to acting as a phone volunteer for WeCare and helping with Favors Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day. Dave’s biggest impact was quietly helping those around him. He never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand to a neighbor, friend, family member, or even stranger. Dave’s generosity and kindness will be remembered by all who knew him.
Dave is survived by his loyal children, Kylie and Parker Adams (Noblesville, IN), Wesley and Taylor White (Columbus, OH); beloved grandchildren Everly Adams, Callan Adams, Emeline White, Welles White; trusted mother of his children, Nancy White (Kokomo, IN); and spirited sister, Nancy Denman (Kokomo, IN). In addition to his parents, Dave is preceded in death by his loving sister Beth Taylor and oldest sister Sharon Maxwell.
A celebration of life will take place from 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday, March 20, 2026, at American Legion Post 6, 2604 S. LaFountain St., Kokomo, to share stories, laughs, and raise a glass together. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stout & Son Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to United Way of Howard County. Messages of condolence can be shared at www.stoutandson.com.
