David D. Smith

David D Smith, 76, Kokomo, passed away at 1:12 am, Wednesday July 9, 2025, at Wellbrooke of Kokomo.  He was born on March 19, 1949, to the late Daniel E. and Juanita M. (Harper) Smith.  He married Susan J. Webb on December 26, 1970, and she survives.

David graduated from Northwestern High School in 1967 and Ball State University in 1971.  He worked in construction as a General Contractor, skilled in drafting and creating blueprints.  He enjoyed playing golf, and loved to watch sports, especially the NFL and College basketball.  He liked to stay active as much as he could, walking his dog or exercising on his “Chuck Norris” machine.

Along with his wife, Susan, David is survived by his children, Kristin (Colt) Cannon, and Matthew (Amy) Smith; grandchildren, Ivy Smith, Madison Fields, Parker Fields, Hadley Cannon, and Brantley Cannon; sister, Diana Smith; niece, Dana Smith; and nephew, Kevin Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, David Smith.

A funeral service celebrating David’s life will take place at 3pm on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor David Webb officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1pm to 3pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
