Dale E. Lewis, 70, Kokomo, passed away at 2:57pm on Wednesday March 18, 2026, at his home. He was born in Tipton on September 15, 1955, to the late Raymond E. and Violet E. (Cook) Lewis.
Dale graduated from Kokomo High School in 1974 and attended Indiana University. He was proudly active in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, where he had been stationed in, Michigan City, Indiana, Benton Harbor, and South Haven, Michigan. Dale started working for the family business in his youth. What started out as a fruit stand, then an autobody shop, eventually became Kokomo Marine. Dale took over as owner and operator after his father passed away in 2000. He was a member of Southside Apostolic Church; he had attended Abundant Life Church and Northview Christian Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends boating, golfing, working on muscle cars, going to car shows, and listening to music. He played the drums and was learning to play the guitar. He loved going on vacation to his condo in Florida.
Dale is survived by his children, Carolyn Jackson, Nathan Lewis, and Daniel (Season) Lewis; grandchildren, Kynzee Halter (Corey Wesson), Brayton Lewis (Zoie Smith), Kylie Lewis, Ellee Lewis, and Jozie Jackson; sister, Marcia (Keith) Jodway; brothers, Raymond (Juanita) Lewis Jr, and Jerry (Cis) Lewis; along with several nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Karen Smeltzer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Gerald Lewis.
A funeral service celebrating Dale’s life will take place at 11 am on Thursday March 26, 2026, at Abundant Life Church, 865 E 400 S, Kokomo, with Pastors Charlie Riley and Keith Mosier officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 3 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday March 25, 2026, at the church, with a Masonic Service following at 7:30 pm, friends may also visit 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
