Dale L Harper

Dale L Harper, 91, Greentown, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019, at 3:15 p.m. at his home.  He was born June 27, 1927, in Greentown, Indiana, to the late Howard and Grace (Ball) Harper.  On May 22, 1955, at Highland Park Church in Kokomo, he married Wilma “Jane” (Pendergrass), and she survives.

Dale graduated from Jackson Township High School in 1945.  He had worked in the utility and repair department at Chrysler retiring in 1989 after 39 years of service.  He also had worked at C.A. Petro and the John Deere store.  He had owned the local shell station with his brother Vic and farmed the family farm.

He had attended Sycamore Friends Church and loved tractors.

In addition to his wife, Wilma “Jane” Harper, survivors include children, Paul Harper, New Castle, David Harper, Greentown and Jay (Connie) Harper, Lafayette; grandchildren, Hannah Harper, Heath (fiancé, Ashley Kauffman) Harper and Caleb Harper; brother, Tom (Shirley) Harper, Greentown; and sister, Sue (Gene) Alexander, Converse.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Smeltzer, Mildred Pence, Frances Marshall, Candace Simpson and Elizabeth Charlotte Harper; and brothers, George Harper, Bill Harper, Harold Harper and Vic Harper.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at Hasler-Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St. Greentown, with Pastor Jesse Vore officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown. Friends are invited to visit with the family Monday 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contribution may be made to Sycamore Friends Church.
