Cindy Gibson Obituary

Cindy Lu Gibson, born on May 23, 1953, in Kokomo, Indiana, peacefully passed away on May 26, 2025, at her home in Loveland, Colorado, surrounded by her beloved family and the comforting melodies of her favorite Enya Christmas music.

Cindy’s adventurous spirit was truly inspirational. Her electric scooter was a familiar sight, whether zooming around the slot machines in Las Vegas, navigating the bustling streets of New York City, exploring Fernandina Beach, Florida, savoring the casinos of Black Hawk, discovering the scenic beauty of the Black Hills in South Dakota, or shopping her way through New Mexico. Summers in Bradington, Florida, held particularly cherished childhood memories for her.

After dedicating 30 years to General Motors, Cindy embraced retirement with enthusiasm, pursuing passions such as shopping trips to her favorite boutiques—Betsey’s in Indiana, Mary Jane’s in Estes Park, and any Walmart that happened to cross her path. A true collector, she enjoyed assembling remarkable collections including Boyd’s Bears, Longaberger Baskets, Beanie Babies, Coach purses, and Tupperware. Life tested Cindy with immense challenges, yet she faced every obstacle with unwavering resilience and courage. A survivor of domestic violence, she experienced both poverty and wealth, even enduring a period living out of her car. Following an amputation, her determination never faltered; she worked incredibly hard to return home to be with her cherished family in her final days.

Her joyful heart overflowed with generosity, always first in line to donate school supplies, support Partners in Hope, and ensure struggling families received gifts at Christmas. Cindy’s deep faith was evident in her active participation at church in Colorado, especially enjoying her Sunday morning fellowship and the simple joy of folding and stuffing programs.

Christmas was Cindy’s absolute favorite, with multiple trees and lavish decorations bringing joy to everyone who entered her home. She adored spending time with her grandchildren Judah, Micah, and Emma, creating unforgettable moments at Cedar Point and Disneyworld.

A spirited music lover, Cindy’s playlist ranged from Elvis and Rod Stewart to Pit Bull. At age 71, she and her best friend Sally notably celebrated life at a Pit Bull and Ricky Martin concert in Denver. Her evenings were often filled with the drama of her soaps, the thrill of game shows, and the engaging plots of Jack Reacher.

Cindy treasured her family deeply. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Wendell, children Jill and Danny, and sister Marilyn. She is survived by her children William and Wendy; her adopted-in-love children Robin, Ryan, and BJ; and grandchildren Judah, Micah, and Emma, all of whom affectionately called her "Moma G."
