Christine "Chris" Joan Young

Christine “Chris” Joan (Spangler) Young, 76 years old, of Russiaville, IN, passed away 5:15 am Thursday, January 29, 2026, at her home. She was born in Kokomo, IN, on March 16, 1949, the daughter of the late John F. and Margaret L. (Berger) Spangler. On March 8, 1969, she married Richard “Rick” Young at Main Street Christian Church in Russiaville, and he preceded her in death on July 2, 2020.

Chris was a 1967 graduate of Western High School. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at Waddell’s IGA in Russiaville. She served as a hostess caring for grieving families at Stout & Son Funeral Homes. Chris was a life-long member of Main Street Christian Church and passionate about her relationship with Jesus. She loved taking day trips and was a member of the Tourist Club and the Sally Duke Travel Club. She liked working outside in the yard, tending to her garden, and enjoyed taking walks around town.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela Schwarzkopf; grandchildren, Corey (Leanna) Schwarzkopf and Sara Schwarzkopf; four great-grandsons, Mason, Noah, Caleb, and Ryland; and brother-in-law, John Allen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Janice McCoy, Caroline Henry, and Suzanna Allen.

A funeral service celebrating Chris’s life will take place at 11 am Saturday March 21, 2026, at Main Street Christian Church, 220 W Main St., Russiaville. Friends may visit the family following the service until 2 pm on Saturday at the church. Contributions may be made in Chris’ memory to Main Street Christian Church. Stout & Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
