Cheryl Louise Lay

Cheryl Louise Lay, 76, of Kokomo, passed away at 1:03 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo.  She was born November 28, 1945, in Kokomo, to Fred L. Anderson and Louise (Carpenter) Anderson Kluesner.  On September 4, 1976, she married Johnnie Roderick “Rick” Lay, and he preceded her in death on September 15, 2018.

Cheryl graduated from Kokomo High School in 1964 and retired from Delco after more than 30 years.  She cherished spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Steve Thatcher, Jr., Beatrice (Joe) Wiles, Michael (Heather) Lay, Rebecca (Dan) Richardson, Melissa (Charlie) Neuwirth, and Matthew (Kim) Thatcher; fifteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and sister, Carmen Anderson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Fred Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.  Private family burial will be held at Albright Cemetery.
