Obituary

Cheryl Dianne (Hawk) Franko, 70, of Galveston, passed away 7:15 pm Tuesday August 2, 2022, at her home. She was born in Granite City, Illinois on May 6, 1952, the daughter of the late Robert and Louise (James) Hawk. In December of 1994, she married Larry Franko in Granite City, IL, and he survives.

Cheryl was a graduate of Granite City Senior High School. She held a variety of jobs, but her longest tenures were as a clerk at Gas America and Red Barn in Galveston. She adored all animals in general. She loved being a Meemaw to her grandchildren. She enjoyed connecting with her friends through Facebook and watching television court room shows.

In addition to her husband, Cheryl is survived by her children, William “Billy” (Michelle) Herman, Angela Addison; brother, David Hawk; grandchildren, Emma Herman, Eric Herman, Camden Winter; and a large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Carolyn Tindall, Jim Hawk, and Barbara Copeland.

Cheryl’s wishes were to be cremated. There are no public services scheduled at this time. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements. Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
