Charles Leroy Prater Sr., 86, of Bringhurst, passed away 6:55 am Wednesday May 18, 2022, at his home. He was born in Kokomo, IN, on April 3, 1936, the son of the late James Prater and Florence (Brown) Prater. Charlie served in the United States Marine Corps. After his time in the military, he worked at Delco and retired as a clerk in the painting department. He enjoyed reading, gardening, attending auctions, and rooting for his favorite NASCAR driver, Jimmie Johnson. Charlie was competitive when playing games like scrabble and other board games.

Charlie is survived by his children, Teresa (Jeff) Peters, Debbie Prater, Rhonda Brown, Charles Leroy Prater Jr., Pam (Greg) French, Timothy Shawn Prater, Michael Prater, Mary (Jeff) Jones; siblings, Jimmy (Christine) Prater, Don (Loretta) Smith; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Florence Prater; wife, Alice Prater; sons, James Stuart, Paul Prater; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Prater; 10 siblings; and granddaughter, Keshia Williams.
