Charlene "Sherry" Joy Moore Obituary

Charlene “Sherry” Joy Moore, 90, of Kokomo, passed away 11:42 am Saturday March 30, 2024, at Primrose in Kokomo. She was born in Dowagiac, MI, on May 3, 1933, the daughter of the late Paul. E. DeGaramo and Verna L. (Bettenhauser) DeGaramo Eldred. On February 1, 1953, she married John Wilkins Moore in Vestal, New York, and he survives.

Sherry was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Monticello, IN. She was the ultimate caretaker and homemaker. She was a kind and sweet lady whose top priority was her family. Sherry was a faithful member of The ConneXion Church where she was involved with the Ladie’s Circle. She was an avid Purdue Boilermakers fan and she enjoyed playing golf. Sherry found joy in traveling in their RV and spending their winters in Florida.

In addition to her husband of 71 years John Moore, she is survived by her children, Ronald P. (Debby) Moore, Robert A. (Linda) Moore, Julie A. (Ted) Jarvis; brother, Richard (Barb) DeGaramo; grandchildren, Amy (Scott) O’Hair, Ryan (Shammie) Moore, Craig (Katie) Moore, Melissa (Rob) Corbett, Ryan (Valerie) Cousins, Nate (Emily) Jarvis, Alysha Jarvis, Connor (Kate) Jarvis; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul DeGaramo and Verna DeGaramo Eldred; and brother, Paul “Cappy” Edward DeGaramo.

Sherry’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Brenda, Manda, Paradigm Hospice, and the staff at Primrose for their excellent and loving care that they provided to her.

Friends may visit with the family from 10 am to Noon Saturday April 6, 2024, at The ConneXion Church, 700 East Southway Blvd., Kokomo, IN 46902. Funeral service will begin at Noon on Saturday at the church with Pastor Sam Padgett officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Sherry’s memory to The ConneXion Church. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
