Carey Jill Hawkins passed away at 2:38 p.m. on Thursday, November 22, 2018, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida. Carey was born January 1, 1966, in Lafayette, IN, to Carl and Wilma (Bryant) Hawkins. She graduated from Hayworth High School in 1983. Carey was also a graduate of the Ohio Institute of Photography with a minor in marketing. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from DeVry University.
Carey married Bill Misenheimer on February 25, 2006 at the Marie Sellby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, FL. They resided in Dayton, OH until 2014 when they moved to Sarasota. She was employed at Rooms To Go in Sarasota and was a free-lance photographer. She enjoyed music, photography, cooking, and dancing.
Carey is survived by her loving husband, Bill Misenheimer; her mother, Wilma Bryant; father, Carl Hawkins; brother, Brian (Libby) Hawkins; niece, April Weisart; father-in-law, William (Mary) Misenheimer; and several sisters/brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carey was preceded in death by her stepfather, Herbert Bryant; mother-in-law, Linda Misenheimer; grandmother, Bernice Hawkins; and grandparents, William (Cleo) Kirkwood.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, with Pastor Tim Brown officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. A reception will follow the services at the American Legion, 2604 S. Lafountain St., Kokomo.
