Brett Allen Dunlap

Brett Allen Dunlap, 60, Kokomo, passed away Friday, June 7, 2019, in the Emergency room at St. Vincent Hospital, Kokomo.  He was born September 9, 1958, in Kokomo, the son of the late Richard & Donna (Conrad) Dunlap. 

Brett was a 1977 graduate of Western High School.  He loved working as the cook at Wellbrooke and caring for the residents.  He had previously worked as a cook at Community Howard Regional Health.  Brett enjoyed cooking, gardening, and lounging by the pool. 

Brett is survived by his children, Jennifer (Kyle) Morris, and Justin Dunlap; grandchildren, Evan, Gavin and Deacon Morris; siblings, Rick (Diana) Dunlap, Kristy Dunlap, Kerry (Judith) Dunlap, Maryann (Jamie) Beiswanger, Nancy (Fallon) Goodson, and Linda Gerow, along with several nieces and nephews; step-mother, Jeanne Dunlap; his life partner, Janet Kitts; Janet’s children, Theresa Fording, Ashley (Joseph) Granson, and Abigail Kitts; Janet’s grandchildren, Karsyn Fording, Ella Fording, Laelah Kraner, and Jaxson Granson.

Brett was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Loyd Dunlap; Janet’s granddaughter, Kierra Kitts; Janet’s parents, Arthur and Beverly Trusty; and Janet’s brother, Mike Trusty.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Richard Culbertson officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 12-2 pm Thursday at the funeral home.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
