“Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God” (Mathew 5:8).”
Bobby Joe Corley, 83, left his earthly body to go look upon the face of his Savior and be reunited with family and friends on August 16th, 2025. He was born to parents Avis and Myrtle (Sumter) Corley on January 18th, 1942, in Gore, Oklahoma.
He attended Claremore High School and served his country proudly in the United States Army. He worked for several companies throughout his life, including Amax Metal, Mill Creek Lumber Company, T Roy Barnes Pharmacy and owned his own commercial fastener business for many years with locations in multiple states. He was heavily involved in the Claremore community, serving for a time as the President of the Green County Soccer Association and ministered a local church there for many years. As a true minister and believer, he never stopped teaching the gospel and love of Jesus to anyone who would listen and was often quoting his favorite scripture, “All things work together for good to them that love the Lord.”(Romans 28:8) Bobby loved to talk about and share his experiences as a child and also passed the time by watching his favorite Evangelist, Jimmy Swaggart, listening to the gospel music of the Gaither family and friends, he loved to watch Oklahoma football and the Dallas Cowboys (most of the time), and rarely passed up the chance to watch a western movie or television series.
For 36 years, Bobby was married to and survived by his wife, Martha Corley of Kokomo, Indiana. He had one son, Jeff Corley, of Claremore Oklahoma, and wife Cindy Corley; grandchildren, Jessica Haynes and Jake Corley. Additionally, as the bible teaches that welcoming everyone is a reflection of God’s love and grace, Bobby had a vast extended family that included sons, Albert Crain Jr. (Gina), Paul Crain (Darlene) and daughter Rhonda Capps (Darren) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren that he always welcomed with a “Hey!” and a smile. He is also survived by sisters, Nettie Reed, Avie Boyd, Linda Meyers and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Avis and Myrtle Corley; his brother, Leroy Corley; and sisters, Wanda Armbrister and Yvonne Jones.
In keeping with Bobby’s wishes, no services will be held. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with cremation.
