Billie Joy (Price) Thompson, 90, of Kokomo, passed peacefully when God called her to her heavenly home at 3:33 am Sunday June 5, 2022, at her daughter’s home. She was born in Sevierville, TN, on April 7, 1932, the daughter of the late Charles Price and Stella Mae (Dixon) Rader. On June 20, 1952, she married Doyle E. Thompson, and he preceded her in death on September 29, 2016.
Billie worked and retired from Haynes International where she worked as a machine operator. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Kokomo. Billie served a combined 30 years as a Sunday School teacher, impacting many lives, at Fairlawn United Brethren Church and Morning Star Church. She liked playing in the pool with the grandkids, visiting Lake Nyona, and tending to her flower garden. She loved spending time with her family and loved everyone she knew. Billie enjoyed fellowship and visits with women in their group called “O.L.E.O”, Old Ladies Eating Out. She owned and operated her own ceramics shoppe for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Ted) Kenworthy; siblings, Margaret Holtzclaw, Glenda Skaggs; grandchildren, James (Tishelle) Heckman, Jennifer Crow, Matthew Heckman, Johna Pearson, Samantha Taylor, Jeremiah (Shannon) Thompson, Barbara (Jerry) Finton, Richard Thompson, Chuck (Rochelle) Kenworthy; great-grandchildren, Cameron Harris, Grayden Crow, Madison Crow, Brooklyn Cordray, Kailin Kenworthy, Kiersten Slater, Easton Pearson, Asiaynna Brown, Key’Aire Wesley, Elaina Thompson and Bailey Zook; and life-long best friend, Esther Percifield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Brian (Denise) Thompson; daughter, Stephanie Michael; siblings, Jewel Smith, Carolyn Bales, James Price, Robert Price, Charlene Hester; brothers and sisters in law, Howard and Marilyn Thompson, William and Gloria Thompson, Robert and Carolyn Kuhn; brothers in law, Robert Skaggs, Donald Holtzclaw.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 am to 1 pm Monday June 13, 2022, at First Church of the Nazarene Kokomo, 2734 S. Washington St., Kokomo, IN 46902. Funeral service will begin 1 pm on Monday at the church with Pastor Tim Gates officiating. Burial will follow in Sharpsville Cemetery.
