Beverly Ann Kernel, 88, of Kokomo, passed away at 7:53 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at her grandson’s home. She was born July 21, 1937, in Silver Lake, Indiana, to Clifford and Maxine (Easterday) Boring. On February 21, 1970, she married the love of her life, Benjamin T. Kernel, who preceded her in death on April 26, 1998.
Beverly worked in housekeeping at St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo until her retirement. Beverly was a devout Christian who loved her family dearly and was known for her generous nature. She took pride in her appearance and enjoyed shopping and getting her nails done.
Survivors include her daughters, Brenda and Munda (Bob) Blair; son, Terrell (Lindsay) Kernel; grandchildren, Jamie Nussbaum, Jonathan (Michelle) Green, Nathan (Kylee) Green, Kimberly Staten, Justin (Alyssa) Kernel, Jared (Kaylee) Kernel, Jacob (Lilly) Kernel, Kaelyn Kernel and Marissa Steward; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Sonny Boring; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ralph Green; daughter, Diana (Jerry) Staten; brother, Larry Boring; and sisters, Carol Laycock, Barbara Cassidy, and Patty Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, with Pastor Zachary Manton officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
