Barbara "Bobbie" Joan Nichols Obituary

Barbara “Bobbie” Joan (Ford) Nichols, 92, of Kokomo, passed away 9:06 am Monday October 6, 2025, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo. She was born in Kokomo, IN, on December 24, 1932, the daughter of the late CuBertis and Trula (Burnett) Ford. On August 7, 1953, she married Paul Edward Nichols in Kokomo, IN, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, and he preceded her in death on November 24, 2013.

Bobbie was a 1950 graduate of Kokomo High School. She retired from Kokomo Center Schools after 43 years of service doing their payroll. She was a faithful member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church, Order of the Eastern Star #89, and St. Anne’s Guild. Bobbie was a determined lady with a funny sense of humor. She enjoyed cross-stitching and knitting, especially creating items for babies and infants.

She is survived by her children, Paula (Curt) Jennings, Mike Nichols; grandchildren, Jennifer Setty, Mitch (Kaylee) Byam, Collin (Nia) Byam, Myah Nichols; a great-grandson, Liam Byam; brother, John (Kathy) Ford; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and very close cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, CuBertis and Trula Ford; husband, Paul Nichols; sister, Norma Smallwood; and in-laws, Kenneth and Wanda Nichols.

A memorial service celebrating Bobbie’s life will begin 10 am Friday October 17, 2025, at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, 602 W. Superior St., Kokomo, IN 46901, officiated by Fr. Richard Lightsey and Fr. Ted Neidlinger. Contributions may be made in Bobbie’s memory to the Saint Anne’s Guild Fund or the Kokomo Humane Society.
