Bailey Idress Luree Smith, 31, Brazil, passed away at 8:04 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2025, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital. She was born August 26, 1994, in Kokomo to Steve and Tammie (Greenwood) Meadows. On March 17, 2022, she married Joseph Smith, and he survives.
Bailey, beloved mother, wife, daughter, granddaughter, and friend- gone far too soon. She was a woman of fierce love, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion who brought joy to her family. Cooking, baking, motorcycle rides with her husband and dad, “shop therapy” with her mom, singing, and trips to the beach were just a few of the many things she enjoyed. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, and cared deeply for them all, including a large extended family and cousins who were some of her lifelong best friends.
From childhood, Bailey was smart, stubborn, beautiful, vibrant, and tenacious. She filled her brothers’ lives with laughter, mischief, and stories that will be told for years to come. That same fire and resilience carried her through the challenges of life. She overcame significant struggles with depression and anxiety in her teens and, earlier this year, fought courageously and won her battle with pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer.
Her greatest joy was being a mother and wife. She delighted in baking with Preslie, playing video games with Moxen and Joe, and swimming each summer in Gigi and Pa’s pool. Alongside Jaylenn, her bonus child, they were her heart and her world.
Bailey persevered through college course work paving the way to her career as a medical coder while maintaining a warm and loving home. With her loyal dog, Luna by her side or on her lap, she poured herself into work, family and her home with determination and care.
She is survived by her husband; Joseph Smith; parents, Steve (Angie) Meadows and Tammie Greenwood; children, Moxen Smith, Preslie Smith, and Jaylenn Bellow; brothers, Ben (Lauren) Meadows and Eli (Natalie) Meadows; grandparents, Bob (Sharlene) Greenwood and Darrell and Mary Meadows; niece Leighton, and nephews Teddy, and Wyatt; father and mother-in-law, Rob and Annette Smith; grandparents-in-law, Bob and Patty Smith; and uncle and aunt-in-law, Jeff and Jenny Smith and family.
She was preceded in death by her grandma, Patsy Greenwood.
Though Bailey’s time here was far too short, her legacy of fierce love, courage, and laughter lives on in her children, her family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
